St Albans & Harpenden Review: Harpenden MP welcomes young people to Westminster Harpenden MP welcomes young people to Westminster

Harpenden's MP Peter Lilley welcomed more than 100 people to Westminster last week.

The teenagers got the opportunity to question Mr Lilley, take a tour of the Palace and watch Members of Parliament debating on the floor of the Commons.

Mr Lilley said: “It was a pleasure to welcome these young people to the House of Commons and encourage their interest in national and global politics.

“I fielded questions on topics from student loans and Europe to gender equality and press regulation. It was great to see such a broad interest in current affairs.”

“It is very important that all those eligible to vote have the opportunity to become engaged in the political process, which is why every year I invite all those in the constituency who have turned 18 to come and experience the workings of Westminster at first hand.

"I am delighted that so many of them took up the opportunity this year.”
