A 29-year-old man from Harpenden was arrested yesterday after charity boxes were stolen from two pubs.

It is alleged that the man entered the Engineer Public House in St Johns Road and the Carpenters Arms Public House in Cravells Road between 10pm and 11pm on Thursday, November 6 and stole a poppy appeal charity box, which contained donated money.

The man has been released on police bail until December 21.
