Council officials from across the country visited a St Albans leisure centre that is performing better than expected.
Officials from St Albans City and District Council visited Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre on Wednesday, November 26 and said the centre is making the authority money, which is helping to pay off the borrowing used for the scheme.
The circa £25m leisure centre in Holywell Hill was funded using a combination of planning agreements, reserves, Growth Area Funding and borrowing.
St Albans City and District council said that within three months of opening, the leisure centre had exceeded its three-year business plan target of 4,400 health and fitness members.
