A man in his 60s has died after being hit by a car in Harpenden this morning.
Emergency services were called at 11.25am after a pedestrian was hit by a grey Volkswagen car outside the Sainsbury’s store on Bower’s Parade.
The road remains closed between Sun Lane and Vaughn Road and there are significant traffic delays.
An air ambulance was called, but the man died at the scene from serious head and chest injuries.
Emergency services are still at the store.
The woman driver in her 80s was treated for shock at the scene and has been taken to Luton and Dunstable University Hospital with minor injuries.
#Harpenden High Street is likely to be closed for a significant period of time due to a collision so please avoid this area where possible.
