A corporate recruitment campaign has been launched by St Albans District Council to recruit planners and other staff that are needed in housing, finance and legal teams.

The council currently has 18 vacancies across five service areas, including four vacancies in planning to match the growing demand of applications.

Leader and portfolio holder for planning and conservation at the council, Councillor Julian Daly, said: “The council wants to provide an effective and timely planning service.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure that there is a sufficient number of staff in-house to handle the increasing number of planning applications. At the moment, we are using temporary external resources to help deliver the service while we recruit people to the vacant posts.”

The public can attend the meeting at 7pm on Thursday, January 22 at the council’s offices at the Civic Centre, in St Peter’s Street.
