A vacant tattoo parlour in St Albans will become an acupuncture treatment centre.

Li Zhang submitted an application to St Albans District Council to turn the tattoo shop at 55 Catherine Street into an acupuncture treatment room.

Having received no objections, the application was granted by the council on the condition that the shop would be open between 10am and 7pm Monday to Saturday - with no opening on Sundays or Bank Holidays.

This would be one hour longer than the permitted hours for the tattoo parlour.

The council said the proposal would be an appropriate re-use of this part of the building and would not result in the loss of a retail unit.

The application was also approved on the basis that the development begins within three years and the shop front shall at all times include a window display.
