A new DIY store which was lauched this weekend in St Albans has been described as a "success".

Screwfix opened it's most recent store in Acrewood Way, Hatfield Road on May 14. The opening is part of the company's nationwide store expansion plan, which saw the retailer open 60 new stores in the UK last year, and a further 60 are to open this year.

Store manager at the St Albans branch, Kelly Bason said: "We chose to open a new store in St Albans because it’s a growing town with a great trade presence. Many of our customers already shopped with us at our Welwyn Garden City and Hemel Hempstead stores and are delighted to see us here, as they no longer have to travel so far."

"Our celebration period, which ran from Thursday and throughout the weekend until Sunday attracted hundreds of customers and we are looking forward to welcoming many more local people over the coming months."
