Tennis and Wimbledon fans will have their turn to hit the courts at St Albans and Harpenden’s Great British Tennis Weekend this August.

On August 1 and August 2, parks and leisure centres in the area will open their doors to allow everyone to channel their inner Murray or Watson and try serving, volleying and rallying all for free.

Great British tennis Weekend is the UK’s biggest ever public tennis event and offers free tennis for anyone, no matter what standard they are.

Batchwood Sports Centre, Harpenden Sports Centre and Abbey View Golf and Athletics Track will be involved in the activities with free sessions running across both the Saturday and Sunday with a big regional Lawn Tennis Association event at Abbey View on the Sunday where participants will be able to receive some professional coaching advice.

The aim of the weekend is to inspire people to get on court and take part in a variety of activities. Players will be able to experience Cardio Tennis, Highland Spring Mini Tennis, coaching and much more – all for free.
