A UK-based international biscuit company has kick started its new charity partnership by completing a 160-mile cycle ride and raising more than £7,300.

Burton’s Biscuit Company, whose head office is based in Charter Court, St Albans, completed the challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having set off from its Llantarnam factory in Wales on June 17, CEO Ben Clarke and six board members – Stephen Carson, Jim Beaty, Neil Grocock, Sarah Spittle, Ben Boase and Nick Field – cycled for three days, finally arriving into St Albans on Friday, June 19.

Mr Clarke said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It was great to see the teams’ training put into action and to raise money for such a worthy cause.

“It’s certainly going to be interesting getting back to our desk chairs.

“This challenge kicks off our support for our new charity partner, and we know that every department within the business is keen to throw themselves into this year’s fundraising.”

Adam Nash, account manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “I’d like to say a huge congratulations to the Board at Burton’s Biscuit Company for completing such an incredible feat.

“Cancer can be the loneliness place, but the Macmillan team, want to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone and without the help of partners like Burton’s, we simply couldn’t do this.

“All of the money they raised will help fund our vital cancer support services.”
