Enterprising spirit has landed the University of Hertfordshire a place on the shortlist for a respected business award.

The Duke of York Award for University Entrepreneurship is handed out for outstanding support of budding businesses and the quality of entrepreneurial services provided to students.

The winner will be announced at the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards Gala on November 10 and pro vice-chancellor for enterprise, Julie Newlan, is excited about the nomination.

“From our inception we have been at the forefront of bringing higher education and employers closer together, through championing entrepreneurship,” she said.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award, which recognises our longstanding commitment to entrepreneurship.

“At Hertfordshire we are the UK’s leading business-facing university, and as such it’s ingrained in our DNA.”

The nomination completes a double for the University after their its careers, employment and enterprise service was shortlisted for the Employer Engagement Category of the AGCAS Awards for Excellence.

As well as the University awardsBusinesses from a number of different industries will also be competing for to try and win a coveted awards.
