Four sheep have been stolen from a farm near Wheathampstead.
Officers say the incident happened between 4.30pm on Monday, September 14 and 1pm the following day.
The four, six-month-old Southdown Cross sheep were taken from a small holding on the Lower Luton Road.
PC Jane Flemons, from the Harpenden and rural safer neighbourhood team, said: “The farm runs alongside a busy road and I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious between the times stated to contact me.
"It is thought the offenders may have pulled onto the side of the road in a van, or similar vehicle, in order to take the animals.
“If you have any information about the incident, or the whereabouts of the sheep, please contact me.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Flemons on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F2/15/1279.
