Friends of the teenage boy killed in St Albans have paid tribute to a “cracking lad”.

Harley Tobias, 16, was travelling alone in a black Vauxhall Astra that crashed into a parked camper van in Marshal’s Drive at around 2am last Tuesday.

The teen suffered serious head injuries and died at St Mary's Hospital on Wednesday night.

Ben Jerrams, 18, was with Harley in hospital before he died. He said: “Harley was one of those kids that if you had a bad day, he would turn it upside down and make you laugh.

“He was always there for everyone. He was someone everyone wanted to have around, and he was always there for everyone.”

Andrew Burrowes, Michael Murray, Amber Foster, and Danny Sheed also contacted the Review to express their condolences. They said they would miss Harley’s “bubbly” character.

Harley’s friends and family will be releasing lanterns tomorrow to mark what would have been his 17th birthday. They will meet at Longacres from 8pm.

The teen's funeral will be held at West Herts Crematorium on Friday, October 13 at 3.20pm.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
