This year’s Christmas poster competition set by the mayor of Harpenden received a “tremendous” response.

More than 300 entries from school and organisations in Harpenden entered this year’s competition with the theme ‘A Merry Christmas’.

The overall winner, Clara, from Roundwood Primary School, will be invited to turn on the Christmas Lights at the Christmas Carnival on Sunday, November 22 and have her design made into the town mayor’s Christmas card this year.

Town Mayor, Cllr Brian Ellis said: “The response this year was tremendous and I really enjoyed looking at all the entries.

“I am sorry that I cannot reply individually due to the number of entries received by would like to congratulate everyone who took part.

“The standard of artwork and the designs were super.

“Thank you for entering the competition.”

A presentation ceremony for the winner and runners up will be held at the Town Hall on Monday, November 9.
