It will be a merrier Christmas at The Boot after they scooped Festive Pub of the Year.

Decked out in traditional decorations, the pub in Market Place impressed our mystery drinkers today, and was crowned Festive Pub of the Year 2015.

The competition is in its seventh year and is organised and judged by the Review, St Albans District Council, St Albans Civic Society and St Albans Chamber of Commerce.

Pub manager Laura George said she was "thrilled" to have won.

Ms George added: "We spent several mornings putting up the decorations and are chuffed to have won."

More than 15 nominations were received and the Hare and Hounds in Sopwell Lane was named ‘Highly commended festive pub’.

This year's Festive Window was awarded to Lavendergreen in London Road.

The gift shop's manager Emma Bustamante said: "It feels amazing to have won.

"We put a lot of effort into out windows everyday and keep changing them throughout the festive season."
