A restaurant chain has claimed a national award at the 2016 National Fish and Chip Awards.
Lussmans Fish and Grill Restaurants, which has outlets in Leyton Road, Harpenden and High Street, St Albans, won the Best Foodservice Operator Award.
Judges assessed the cooking and preparation of the food, the relationships with suppliers, customer service and the development of the restaurant’s menus.
Commenting on their award win after receiving the trophy from awards host, Nigel Barden, voice of food and drink on BBC Radio 2, restaurant chain director Andrei Lussmann said: “This is the first time we’ve entered the awards so we’re overwhelmed to be winners; it’s an honour to be recognised and appreciated for our hard work.
“We were up against some fierce competition.”
The awards, dubbed the Oscars of the fish frying industry, recognise the best fish and chip restaurants in the country.
