A man has been sentenced following a theft from a car in Harpenden.

Adam Pearson, 27, from St Albans, smashed the driver’s side window and stole a small amount of loose change on January 12.

He appeared before Hatfield Remand Court on January 25 and pleaded guilty to breaking into the black Land Rover defender.

Mr Pearson was arrested in a grey Vauxhall Astra in Hammonds End Lane, in Harpenden.

He was given a conditional discharge and asked to pay costs of £85.

DC Paul Cullinan said: “A member of the public reported that a man was acting suspiciously in West Common Way early in the morning of January 12 allowing police to attend the area and arrest Adam Pearson.

“I am grateful to this person for making that call and would encourage anyone who sees any suspicious activity to contact police immediately which will enable us to deal accordingly.”
