DESPITE miserable weather, Herts County Show-goers still turned up in their thousands over the weekend to enjoy the fun in the countryside' themed event.
A total of 20,000 people, a 20 per cent drop on last year, turned up to enjoy the traditional show events, such as prize-winning livestock competitions, international show jumping and the Hertfordshire Farmers Agricultural Revolution display.
Visitors enjoyed this year's main attractions, including the Coventry Corps of Drums, Imps Motorcycle Team and the Devil's Horsemen trick-riding team.
Show secretary Mike Harman said: "We are pleased at the visitor attendance bearing in mind the particularly wet Sunday, and the positive post-show feedback confirms that our efforts to be a leading traditional County Show are appreciated.
"The well-attended fourth food and farming debate held prior to the show proved very successful, and positively confirms the consumer interest in UK farming and agricultural issues."
This year's president, Mr Noel Grant, hosted a lunch for 110 invited guests on Saturday and the main message of his speech was a call for Hertfordshire residents and businesses to join the society theme of proud to promote Hertfordshire'.
