A schoolboy won a competition to create a new roof design for an iconic car.

Pupils from St Albans School were invited by the team at Stephen James Enfield Mini to design 'a roof that rocks' for the Mini Clubman.

Fourth Former Sam Jarman was announced as the winner of the competition with his Mini Madness artwork.

The judging panel, Mini Brand Manager Dan Beddow and Gary Calvert, the school's head of design and technology, were very impressed by his artistic skill and ability to stick closely to the brief.

Headmaster Jonathan Gillespie said: “The competition tested our pupils’ creative skills whilst giving them a unique opportunity. We look forward to hosting the car and Sam’s winning work here later this month.”

George Stockbridge was named runner-up with his ‘First Man on the Moon’ design and highly commended certificates were also awarded to Hugo Stephens, Alex Daniel, Nabeel Syed, Saul Lotzof, Madoc Miller and Thomas Chapman.

The car with Sam’s work was displayed at the school for a week. His family will also have the opportunity to have the car for the weekend and go on a tour of the Mini plant in Oxford.
