Picnics, bake-offs and barbecues are to hit the streets of St Albans in June, and residents are urged to get involved.
The Great Get Together is aimed to get communities meeting and talking, while also commemorating the life of Jo Cox MP, who was murdered when walking to her constituency in June last year.
Hertfordshire County Council has set up a page of tips so organisations, groups and neighbours can come together to put on their very own street part, competition or celebration in June 17-18.
Lead for community engagement and localism at Herts County Council Cllr Beric Read said: “We are expecting that a lot of people will want to take part in the Great Get Together and are urging them to start making arrangements now.”
Help for Heroes, Amnesty International, the Women’s Institute and the Premier League are among the event’s supporters as well as The Big Lunch, who launched a similar event in 2009.
