Nominations are open for food and drink awards – and you can vote for your favourite shop, restaurant or pub to take the top prize.

The St Albans Food and Drink Awards, as part of the festival from September 27 to October 7, will announce their winner on October 2 at Sopwell House.

Until May 28, you can nominate your favourite everyday restaurant, café, pub, takeaway or local producer for a prize at the ceremony.

Cllr Beric Read, the district council’s lead for community engagement and localism said: “The food and drink awards celebrate the buzzing café culture, restaurant scene, friendly pubs, bars and talented producers that exist in the District.”

There is also a special customer service award in memory of Kate D’Arcy, a “much-loved” restaurateur who died in June 2010.

The public can then vote for the nominees from July 3 to August 28 before the festival’s steering group visit each nominee to ensure they are doing what they say they are doing.
