A stash or ornate jewellery and antiques have been stolen and police are trying to find it by releasing images of a distinctive ring.

Burglars took jewellery from a property in Glenferrie Road, St Albans between 3.30pm on Friday, May 26 and 8.30am on Tuesday, May 30.

The 1920s art deco platinum ring with a diamonds and sapphires set in a lattice effect is among the stolen items.

This was one of five rings to be taken from the property. The others are a ladies gold engagement ring with a diamond and two sapphires, and 18ct yellow gold band with three diamonds, a 1920’s gold piece with diamonds set into claws and another gold ring set with amethysts.

A gold bracelet set with sapphires, an engraved, gold bangle, gold earrings containing sapphires and diamonds, a gold heart-locket necklace, a 9ct yellow and white gold necklace and a gold engraved brooch from the 1920s or 1930s were also taken.

The two watches taken were a men’s white-feced Rotary watch with a gold case and brown leather strap and a gold plated ladies watch which has a small white face, gold case.

An antique tie pin with the face of a bearded man etched in ivory is another distinctive piece that the public are asked to look out for.

A silver art deco teapot highly decorative engraving in a melon design, an antique sterling silver art deco teapot, a sterling silver art deco bowl and two antique silver match boxes are also missing.

Detective Constable Colin Workman from the St Albans Local Crime Unit said: “We have been making enquires at local pawn shops and jewellers to try to trace these items but so far these enquiries are proving negative.

“I would appeal to anyone who believes they may have seen these items or has been offered them for sale to make contact with police as soon as possible
