Students at a secondary school were “delighted” by the completion of a new £300,000 science laboratory.

Sir John Lawes School, in Manland Way, Harpenden recently opened the doors to its new lab, which was designed by regional property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood.

The funding for the scheme, worth more than £300,000, was also secured by Ingleton Wood via the Education, Skills and Funding Agency (ESFA) and work was completed after a six-month building phase by T&B Contractors.

Head teacher Claire Robins said: “We are dedicated to constantly improving and investing in our facilities in order to provide the very best educational experience for all.

“Science is a key area for us so we are delighted to be able to offer the very latest in state of the art science facilities to all of our pupils.”

Gary Benn, Project Manager at Ingleton Wood, said: “It’s been a pleasure to deliver this important project for Sir John Lawes School.

“We have been really successful in gaining funding for public sector schemes and it is always rewarding to see them come to fruition.”
