Watford General Hospital delivers Christmas babies

Midwives were kept as busy as usual over the festive period delivering a total of 22 babies over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day at Watford General Hospital.

Christmas Day saw the arrival of baby Sakshi at 7.25am and Wishma Iftikhar at 10.05am, both from Watford.

Baby Hudema arrived at 7.35am.

Mitra Bakhtiari, director of midwifery, said: “Congratulations to all the families who celebrated the arrival of their Christmas babies.”

Appropriately named baby ‘Eve’ Ghiocel, whose family are from Hemel Hempstead, was one of the first babies to arrive on December 24, born at 1.42am.

Amelia Walsh from St Albans followed later at 4.49pm.

And Rosie Ivory was born to proud parents on Boxing Day.

Ms Bakhtiari added: “A special thanks to all the staff who worked over the festive period to safely bring them into the world, as they do all year round.

“I am so proud of our maternity teams.

“They are so supportive of each other and no matter what the journey is like for the families in our care, they make it the best experience possible for them.”
