A sixth former, who attends St Columba's College, has won a silver medal during a swimming competition in Dubai.

Caitlin Hartley trains at Hatfield Swimming Club and was one of 75 DiSE (Diploma in Sporting Excellence) swimmers from England to make the trip.

Hamilton Aquatics welcomed the group on February 7, before a week of training and competition took place.

Three high-performance training sessions were completed at Dubai's Hamdan Sports Complex, before the swimmers competed in the Middle East Open and Junior Championships (MEOJC).

Over 900 swimmers from 54 international academies took part, with Team England bringing back 56 medals.

Nineteen gold, 18 silver and 19 bronze were won by English athletes, making the team the top visiting club at the competition.

Caitlin won a silver medal and recorded her personal best time in the 100m breaststroke.

She also recorded her personal best times in the 50m and 200m, finishing fourth in both races.
