YOUNG pirates and mermaids walked the plank and took part in some treasure hunting adventures yesterday.
Local children, between 4 and 8-years-old, attended the event which was held at St Albans Museum yesterday.
The swashbucklers worked through a series of tasks, improvising, acting and singing along the way.
After testing their pirating skills they were taken on a treasure-hunting adventure where they battled to find the treasure of Captain William Kidd.
Perform drama schools put on the day as one of their drama workshops for children.
"Yesterday was great fun, as we lead a group of kids from St Albans through a series of Pirate Tasks," said drama teacher Katie Bona.
"The children had a chance to look around the Crime and Punishment exhibition and we lead them through an improvised story of the infamous Captain Kidd.
"Hopefully it was a fun and educational day all round and kids will sign up to our Summer Experiences before spaces run out."
The Summer Experiences are on July 28 to August 1 and August 18 to August 22.
If you want to sign your children up to one of the programs contact: 0845 400 4000 or visit www.perform.org.uk
