The Green Party have claimed a third seat on St Albans City & District Council following the by-election for St Peters ward.
The poll took place yesterday (Tuesday, June 13), and saw Juliet Voisey elected with 628 votes.
The Liberal Democrats' David Partridge received 537 votes, while the Conservative's Ambrose Killen recorded 156.

Lastly, the Labour Party's David Byatt received 84 votes.
The result sees a third Green Party councillor elected, after Cllr Matt Fisher was elected in Clarence ward in the May local elections.
He joined Cllr Simon Grover, who retained his seat in St Peters ward.

The current political structure of St Albans City & District Council is as follows:
- Liberal Democrats: 48 seats
- Conservative Party: 4 seats
- Green Party: 3 seats
- Independant: 1 seat
- Labour Party: 0 seats
