THE NEW president of Harpenden Lions Club has been welcomed into office.

David Murphy was officially inducted at a ceremony on Tuesday, June 24.

He received the chain of office from outgoing President Neville Osmond.

The new President became a member of the Lions club in 2002. The 45-year-old lives in Redbourn with his wife and two children.

David said: "It's a great feeling to be the president of such a successful club.

"We have raised over half a million pounds for charities in the last 25 years whilst enjoying the friendship and fun with the members.

"My year starts with the Highland Gathering on July 13, and will continue with the usual mix of fund raising, actively helping disabled and other deserving people and attending club social events".
