70000 Britannia's York Xmas trip stopping at Potters Bar and Hitchin

On Saturday, November 18, the 70000 Britannia will stop at Potters Bar and Hitchin on its way to York's famous 'St Nicholas Fair'.

The train itself was the first of 55 Standard class 7 engines to be built in Crewe, by British Railways.

It was completed in January 1951, and was built specifically for express passenger services between London and Norwich.

Perhaps most importantly, the Britannia hauled The Royal Train from Preston to Wakefield in January 2012.
