Students across St Albans and Harpenden have celebrated A-level results day, with many receiving the grades they need to take them to university.
Taking place yesterday (Thursday, August 17), we asked schools in the area to send us details from the momentous occasion.
Here's the highlights:
St Albans
Sandringham School
Sandringham School's headteacher, Alan Gray, was "delighted" with the results, as a record number of students secured Oxbridge places.
The majority of students chose Russell Group universities, whilst "a growing number" from the school are now choosing the apprenticeship route.
Mr Gray said: "It has been a privilege for staff to celebrate the success of all our students and help them through the last two years of study."
St Albans School
Five of St Albans School's students achieved four A* grades, and 16 achieved at least three A* grades.
Two A* grades were gained by 31 pupils, with 62 achieving at least one.
St Albans School's headmaster, Jonathan Gillespie, commented: "Warm congratulations to them on the resilience they have displayed and on the strong A-level results that many have achieved."
Townsend Church of England School
Pol Vallverdu, Patrick Collins, Kiandra de Bruin, Olivia Fairthorne, Aaron Ennis and Aston Cole were a few of the top-performing students at Townsend C of E.
Mr Buckland, the school's headteacher, described himself as "immensely proud".
He added: "We have been delighted with the grades achieved and congratulate the students on their success achieved through their hard work and the excellent support of their dedicated staff and parents/carers."
St Albans High School for Girls
Three students earned four A* grades at St Albans High School for Girls, with eight achieving three A*s and an A.
Amber Waite, the school's headteacher, said: "The success is the culmination of many years’ worth of hard work, and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds for our newest alumni.”
Samuel Ryder Academy
"Excellent progress" was achieved at Samuel Ryder Academy, as one student, Erica, achieved two A*s and an A.
Alice and Tigerlily were both awarded one A* and two As.
The school's deputy head, Mr Barry, said: "We are incredibly proud, wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to hearing of their future achievements.”
Beaumont School
Beaumont School's headteacher Martin Atkinson said: "It’s particularly rewarding that so many students have reached or surpassed their aspirations, in a year that has seen a national reduction in the number of higher grades awarded."
The school's head of Sixth Form, Jo Tolley, confirmed that many students achieved straight A or A* grades.
Verulam School
A total of 13 pupils at Verulam School achieved A or A* results in all subjects, with three gaining Distinction* in their BTECs.
Headteacher, Julie Richardson, commented: "It was brilliant to see so many receiving well-deserved excellent results, but more so seeing what amazing young adults they have become."
St Columba's College
David Shannon-Little, headmaster of St. Columba's College, said: "We are immensely proud of our co-ed students' accomplishments on this year's A-level Results Day.
"Through the challenges of the past few years, our students have exhibited extraordinary commitment and determination which has resulted in entirely creditable results."
St Albans Girls' School
"Outstanding achievements" were celebrated at STAGS, with "exceptional success" also on display.
A spokesperson for the school said: "We wish all of our students every success, which is so richly deserved.
"These results are only possible because of the encouragement of parents and staff."
Harpenden
Roundwood Park School
"A happy morning" at Roundwood Park School saw "excellent results" for its students.
Headteacher Alan Henshall said: "They are all lovely people who will do great things in their lives, I'm very proud of them all.
"Whether they are now entering the world of work, embarking on an apprenticeship or going to university, I want to wish them the very best."
Sir John Lawes School
Sir John Lawes School headteacher, Phil Newbery, said: "Huge congratulations to all the Year 13 students for their dedication and commitment to their studies over the last two years.
"They have overcome all the challenges thrown at them and we are very proud of all their achievements."
