Flamstead's puppet family from the late 1960s will feature in an upcoming talk at St Leonard's Church.

Gerry Anderson's Century 21 Productions - the company behind Thunderbirds - created a series of photo comics exploring domesticity, family life and childhood, using the village as a backdrop.

Candy, Andy & the Bearandas featured panda bear couple Mr and Mrs Bearanda and their two children Candy and Andy.

Never reaching the popularity of other Anderson characters, the comic strip was abandoned after a year.

However a new book by Alan Dein presents the best of the surviving original transparencies for the first time in more than 50 years - showing the family driving their striped Mini, going for a boat ride and more.

Alan will be at the church on Saturday, March 2 from 2pm to 3pm to talk about the legacy of the Bearandas and the Flamstead locations captured in the photos.

Admission is free.
