Verdi's - an Italian restaurant in  St Albans - has been awarded the top food hygiene rating after previously being told that "major improvement" was required.

The eatery in Clarence Park was given a five-out-of-five rating on Wednesday, April 17 - boosting its score from just one after visit in January this year.

According to the earlier report, "hygienic food handling" and "cleanliness and condition of facilities and building" both required improvement.
