BRITISH Transport Police want to trace this man who might have vital information about a sexual assault on a late-night train from London.

CCTV images have been released by police of the man they want to talk to, seen at St Pancras station on the night.

A 24-year-old victim was travelling home from London at around 3.20am on November 21, last year.

She got on a train from St Pancras to St Albans and after falling asleep, she was woken up by a man sitting on a seat opposite her.

The man took off the woman's socks, sexually assaulted her and then got off the train at Mill Hill Broadway.

Detective Constable Tony Gittins, investigating officer at the British Transport Police, said his officers have carried out a number of enquiries and hoped members of public might be able to help identify the man in the picture.

He is described as being of Asian appearance, aged between 35 to 45, of a slim build and around 5ft 10 inches tall.

On the day, he was wearing a dark overcoat, possibly with a purple shirt and tie, and dark trousers and shoes.

DC Gittins, said: “The victim was not injured in any way, but was obviously very distressed by what happened.”
