Well it’s that time of year again, festival season has popped into the mind of young and old. I for one am actually contemplating on going this year. This coming from a man who hasn’t gone in the past (despite loving live music) because it’s just a bit too muddy and cursed with rain (almost always). Even the sceptics can have their mind changed however, when you spin rumours of Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Green Day, Enter Shikari (don’t really like them, but they’re from St Albans so it’s nice to show support) amongst countless other bands set to brace the festival.

You may call me a typical young, sad fan boy…and you’re probably right. Nevertheless, I’m not the only one who’s been given a greater appetite for the festival in the mid-Berkshire countryside (or Yorkshire, depending on whether you’re attending the ‘Leeds’ version of the festival). It’s not quite got the national prestige of Glastonbury, yet young and old still attend the festival in their thousands. So yes, for this year I am willing to endure the mud and weather to listen to this (in my view) fantastic array of music styles. My primary concern is that with the whole “r-word” situation going on, less people will be able to afford a weekend that costs in the region of 3 digits. On the other hand, I do have a firm belief in mankind; one that suggests the festival will be as much of a success as it would be any other year, if not more so.

Tickets for the Reading and Leeds festivals go on sale on Monday the 30th of March at 7pm, and can be bought from ticket master or the official website itself.

Oh and a final note, I do realise how ‘non-masculine’ my comment about the weather was and consequently did some weights in-between having a beer, watching the football and doing other manly things.
