A PARK STREET villager has supported the claim that the size of the proposed railfreight warehouses proves that many more lorries will use the depopt than predicted by Helioslough.
Retired bank worker Chris Brown told the hearing: “Mr Parry has made some very cogent comments on the validity of the traffic generation figures – I have some data which fully suports his conclusions."
He produced calculations based on the volume of the warehouses and the likely turnover of stock, building in factors such as the more rapid turnover of perishable food, claiming there would be 5,333 lorry movements a day rather than Helioslough's figure of 3,200.
In cross-examination, Mr Forsdick said Mr Brown's calculation had used stock turnover figures from a warehouse in Kent that was not fully rail-connected.
