RESIDENTS will join the district council to plant trees at Netherway Open Space this weekend.
Hazel, Guelder Rose and Field Maple are among the types which have been purchased with a grant from Watling Chase Community Forest and will be planted on the land.
The council's countryside management service has organised the event along with the Friends of Netherway Open Space who will gather on Sunday, December 6 from 10am to 2pm as part of national tree week.
Councillor Sheila Burton portfolio holder for sport and healthy living at the district council said: “This project has brought the community together. People living in the area have been involved and will have an opportunity to continue to be involved in managing and caring for their open space.
“We hope to see everyone out on Sunday planting a tree – an activity that unites generations.”
The Netherway project runs in conjunction with the Greenspace Action Plan (GAP) – a way of managing and improving the site.
More information about GAP can be found at www.albans.gov.uk/greenspaces.
