HELIOSLOUGH and the council have clashed over the details of the junction giving trains access into the freight depot.
The council has proposed a condition that there must be a feasibility study on a single track leading from the main line into the railfreight depot, with provision for later installation of a second track.
Mr Kingston complained: “This needs to be exposed for what it is – namely how can we increase the cost and work involved with this project.”
Mr Reed, who said the need for a double track was clear from the evidence of his rail expert Mr Wilson, said that the condition did not oblige Helioslough to build it, merely to plan for it.
With all 33 original conditions discussed, plus two more suggested by Strife, the inquiry has adjourned until 9.30am on Tuesday, when Helioslough will call its first witness.
