HELIOSLOUGH'S railfreight project is flawed as it depends on expensive upgrades to a key rail link, the district councul is arguing. Continuing his cross-examination of the company's transport consultant Nick Gallup, Matthew Reed asked about a rail line across north London from from Gospel Oak to Stratford.
Arguing the line would be crucial to Helioslough's project by providing a link to the port of Felixstowe, he forced Mr Gallup to admit there were two bridges on the line which would need to be enlarged.
As he tried to prove the modifications were too expensive to be funded in the neat future, Mr Reed pressed the witness on whether government subsidies were available.
