A PAN-ASIAN restaurant has been chosen to cater at an extravangant star-studded feast for the band Liberty X, just a month after opening.

St Albans-based Asia will be one of two curry houses dishing up the £4,500 meal before the band headlines at London's Hammersmith Palais on Tuesday.

Guests at the blow-out bash are said to include the likes of Sir Cliff Richard.

The restaurant on Beaconsfield Road, which specialises in cuisine from India and sub-continental South East Asia, will join forces with Birmingham's Sundarban, whose chefs will be flown in by helicopter to prepare the meal.

The Selly Oak restaurant, which catered for the band Westlife before a show last month, chose to collaborate with Asia after one of its managers dined there.

Ibrahim Miyah, a partner in the family-run restaurant, said: "The reason why they approached us was that they wanted a bit of variety.

"As well as some traditional dishes we serve extremely modern, contemporary dishes so there is a lot of choice."

The Asia chefs will cook up between 40 and 50 dishes including mango prawn puree, crab spring rolls and red snapper mao-mao.
