THE most stylish event on the calendar at the University of Hertfordshire was hosted last week.

More than 200 fashion fanatics from across the county gathered at The Forum for a catwalk show on Wednesday, June 2.

Final year student's at the Hatfield university showcased their creativity and designs which included a wide range of outfits, fabrics and shoes.

The 17 students were given the task of raising £12,000 to put on the show with the whole event being put together by members of the School of Creative Arts – including film and music students.

After the graduate fashion show awards were handed to students by some of the shows sponsors.

Moira Hughes was awarded Tesco’s Most Commercially Viable Collection, Jenia Rassohina won the Ted Baker award for Creative Pattern Cutting and Ashton Murray was named Karen Millen’s Best Young Designer 2010.

Tony Rosella, course leader, said: “The evening was a tremendous success and was a great opportunity for our new generation of designers to showcase their individual creativity on a public platform.

"The quality of work this year has been outstanding, year-on-year we see improvements in the work our students produce which is really important in such a fiercely competitive industry.”

The students will be exhibiting at Graduate Fashion Week in London from June 6 to June 10.
