FOUR women added a touch of class during a beauty contest organised by the Erotic Guild of Arts in St Albans.

Beaumont Hall Studios, in Beaumont Hall Lane, was transformed into an art gallery yesterday, showcasing members' works of art.

Naked paintings and life drawings were on display for visitors to browse and Colin Ballard, co-founder of the group's St Albans branch, explained the purpose of the day.

He said "erotic art" is quite different from pornography.

Mr Ballard said: “Today we are having a beauty contest firstly in evening gowns and then in bikinis.

“All the members are like-minded people who are into figurative art. You won't see any porn or sexual art but we work up to nude.”

The Erotic Guild of Arts was formed in St Albans in 2002 and holds events at Beaumont Hall Studios every month.

The meetings include photo shoots, life drawings and body painting sessions.
