POLICE are hunting the driver of a car who failed to stop after a crash with a cyclist who suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs.

The collision occurred at just before 9pm on Wednesday, November 17.

A cyclist was riding away from St Albans in Hemel Hempstead Road when he was involved in the crash with a black vehicle.

The cyclist, who was wearing reflective clothing and had lights on his bike, fell from the bike and landed on the handlebar. The driver did not stop at the scene.

The 54-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead suffered cracked ribs and a punctured lung and was taken to Watford General Hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

PC Mark Essam at St Albans police station said: “The only description we have of the car is that it was a large black vehicle.

“I would urge the owner of the vehicle involved to contact me, as well as any witnesses who may have seen the collision. It may be that you did not realise you had been involved in the collision or you may have been unable to stop at the scene."
