SEA Cadets in St Albans will be able to give their meeting place a new lease of life thanks to a county councillor's grant.

Councillor Geoff Churchard has allocated £500 of his locality budget to the cadets to carry out essential repairs and maintenance work on their premises.

St Albans Sea Cadets has been providing activities for young people aged ten to 18 for the past 45 years.

They are taught different skills, including first aid, cooking and expedition training and they also take part in a range of water sports including sailing.

The cash will enable the building's roof and timber framed walls to be repaired.

Councillor Churchard said: “I am happy to support a well known and well used local youth organisation that caters for young people from all over St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.

"I hope that this grant helps them to carry on their work in the future.”
