A “wonderful” new housing complex for disabled adults was formally unveiled by St Albans’ Mayor yesterday.
Councillor Aislinn Lee visited the Castle Mews housing scheme, in Flint Way, where nine specially adapted flats have been built to help young people to live independent lives.
The first housing scheme of its kind in the county, the development was described as “phenomenal” by equalities minister Lynn Featherstone during a visit in February. The complex was provided in partnership with St Albans City and District Council, Hertfordshire County Council and the Ability Housing Association.
Councillor Lee, who began her Mayoral term last month, said: “This wonderful development provides purpose-built homes for young people with physical impairments and sensory needs, enabling them to live a full and independent life in the district.
“Castle Mews is being used as model for similar housing projects in the District in the future.”
