A burglar apologised to his victim as he fled from her home.

Police are hunting the man after a burglary at a house in Ringway Road, Park Street, last week.

At about 9.15pm on Tuesday, May 31, the man climbed over a brick wall and forced open a back door. When he was confronted by the homeowner be apologised and ran off through the gardens of neighbouring houses.

He is described as white, stocky, aged between 30 and 40, and about 5ft 7ins tall. He had a round face and was wearing a white baseball cap.

A second suspect who was also spotted at the scene and is described as white, aged 30 to 40, with dark brown hair.

Neighbours also saw a third man, who is described as white, aged 30 to 35, wearing a grey jumper and of stocky build.

PC Naomi Scott, investigating, said: “I am appealing for anyone who lives in the area and we have not already spoken to, but may have information, to come forward.”
