YEAR 9 pupils at a Harpenden school spent a day expressing their creative flair in a sculpture workshop.

More than 180 students at St George's School worked with artist Darcy Turner to make creatures out of sculpture wire.

The pupils took on the challenge of shaping body parts out of the wire and ended up with moulds of various animals - from aardvarks to unicorns.

Headmaster Norman Hoare said: "It is a most unusual scene when the students are making their creature. It's a kind of cross between aerobic and body art, and the outcome is literally quite fantastic."
