THIS coming February half term will see plenty for all children to get stuck into, with the return of the Play Rangers sessions and some special activities at Mill Green Museum!
From Monday 13 to Friday 17 February, the FREE Play Ranger sessions will take place at sites across Welwyn Hatfield. Children can join in with football, rounders, tag and cricket, as well as new activities including space hoppers and den-making. For children who like arts and crafts there will also be drawing competitions!
The sessions are open to children aged 6-12 and no booking is necessary – they can just turn up and join in. However, children should be equipped with drinks, trainers, sports kit and waterproofs.
Play Rangers session are funded by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Community interest company CHILD UK, which works with young people, runs the sessions with trained Play Ranger staff.
At Mill Green Museum, the activities are themed ‘Down on the Farm’ during the half term week. From making clay animals, to drawing and modelling padded picture frames in which to showcase artwork, there are plenty of creative activities for children of all ages.
Some of the activities require advance booking, but there are also drop-in sessions. Prices vary, and can be checked by calling 01707 357117 (lines open weekdays 4pm - 7.30pm and all day Saturday to Sunday). Alternatively, view details and book on the website, at www.welhat.gov.uk/museumactivities.
Councillor Irene Dean, Welwyn Hatfield Youth Champion, said: “It’s great that children have a fun choice of outdoor games as well as some more creative activities over the coming half term week.”
