Police investigating a burglary at a house in Hatfield have released photographs of jewellery that was stolen during the break in.A burglar or burglars smashed a window in order to gain access to a home in the Hatfield Garden Village area sometime between 8am and 5.20pm on Monday April 23.

The intruders searched through the house before making off with a substantial amount of gold jewellery.

Police investigating the break in have today released photographs of examples of the jewellery that may have been offered for sale to people locally.

DC Sarah Meacock, from the Local Crime Unit in Hatfield, said: "These were much-loved family items that were of great sentimental value as well as great financial value to the victims.

"The jewellery is also very distinctive in its style and would be recognisable if offered to someone for sale.

"I would urge anyone who has seen jewellery like this or who may have been offered it in suspicious circumstances to get in touch with police."

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference B2/12/1518. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
