Visitors can tickle their taste buds at the St Albans Food and Drink Festival, which gets underway this month to celebrate the food and drink scene in the city.

Now in its fifth year, the festival promises to give residents a chance to experience diverse tastes during the festival events.

The festival will kick off on Wednesday, September 26, with the city's annual beer festival, which promises 350 different British real ales in the Alban Arena .

The event is organised by St Albans District Council, and will award local restaurants, pubs and bars in the city.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, October 6.

Councillor Beric Read, portfolio holder for community engagement and localism for the council, said: "The St Albans Food and Drink Awards contribute to the vibrant food scene in the district by highlighting the variety of cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars available.

"They also showcase the tasty food and drink that is produced locally."

The festival will draw to a close on October 7 where visitors can enjoy music and entertainment at the festival finale.
