St Albans Bowling Club duo Steve Wilson and Keith Titmus advanced into the second round of the District Pairs competition after they defeated North Mymms’s David Slade and Robert Fowler.
Wilson and Titmus were seven shots down after four ends and going into the final end it looked as though defeat was on the cards.
However, they were able to win the final end by four shots to seal an unlikely 17-16 victory.
Pauline Gardiner and Tricia Gascoine recorded a comprehensive 28-6 win against Potters Bar’s Sue Powers and Pat Feeney in the County Pairs first round.
Gascoine was also in action in the County Singles and claimed a 19-12 second round victory over Helen Winch of Hatfield.
Ken Budd played Fred Mulberry in the St Albans & District Officer’s Singles and ended with a 21-14 victory.
St Albans ladies were beaten 52-40 by Hemel Hempstead in a three-rink triples match while the men lost 92-17 against Potten End.
In the Friday Triples League, St Albans’ ladies lost 20-10 at home and 22-18 away against Welwyn & District.
