Nuffield St Albans got back to winning ways in Herts Division One Squash League by defeating Bishop’s Stortford 4-1.
Adam Auckland looked to be in control of his contest against Nick Mulvey but picked up a slight injury and had to concede the match.
It was a surprise victory for Stortford but Nuffield’s players rallied and produced a number of impressive results.
Will John stormed to a 3-0 win against Simon Evans while Nuffield’s young French player Arthur Moineau thrashed Alistair Ambrose.
Moineau clinched an 11-0 victory in the first game and took the second 11-5. He regained his ruthless form in the third to ease to an 11-2 success.
Jack Fowler’s consistent season continued as he overcame Andy Clark 3-0.
The first game ended 11-9 but Fowler then upped his performance and won the next two 11-6 and 11-2.
Nuffield captain Tom James secured the final victory of the night as he recorded 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 successes against Gavin Noffri to win the match 3-0.
With one match remaining before the Christmas break, Nuffield remain on track to win their first league title for several years.
The club hold a nine-point lead over Broxbourne and will hope to keep that gap when they visit Potters Bar tomorrow (Thursday).
